Lateral Lining (Main-to-House) by CIPP Guru

Lateral Lining, Main to House

The pipe that connects your building to the sewer main fails first and costs the most to dig. Lateral lining repairs it from a single access point.

What it is

The details, in plain English.

The lateral is the private line between your home and the municipal sewer main. It crosses the lawn, the driveway or the sidewalk, and it is usually the oldest pipe on the property. Roots, offset joints and collapsed sections are common.

Lateral lining installs a liner from the cleanout toward the main, sealing the entire lateral. We also line the connection to the main where a lined tee or hat section is used. Where there is no cleanout, we can install one first so the work stays trenchless.

Best for

  • Homes with a known cracked or rooted lateral
  • Lots with mature trees
  • Laterals under driveways, walks or garages
  • Pre-sale sewer repairs

Good questions

Questions, answered

What if there is no cleanout?

We can install one so the lateral can be lined without a trench along the whole run. The estimate lists it.

Who owns the lateral?

In many places the property owner is responsible for the lateral up to the main. Check your local rules; we can help you read the camera report.
